Wedding venues in Mayenne, seen by a videographer

The Domaine du Haras de la Chaîne, a wedding venue in Saint-Pierre-des-Landes, Mayenne
The Domaine du Haras de la Chaîne, Saint-Pierre-des-Landes. Still from a Studio SB film.

Mayenne is my home department, the one where I live and film most. Bocage countryside, granite and stud farms give it reception venues unlike any other. Here are the ones I know from having worked there, and what they change for a wedding film.

The venues I have filmed

For these, I can tell you what happens once the camera is rolling: the light, the sound, the distances, the rhythm of the day.

Domaine du Haras de la ChaîneSaint-Pierre-des-Landes

A working stud farm turned reception venue, across ten hectares, fifteen minutes from Fougères. Two halls, L'Écurie and L'Hippodrome, and a Friday-to-Monday rental. On camera, the rare asset is the horses: meadows, fences and moving shapes in the background that no other venue in the area can offer.

Ferme de MaupoirierJublains

A granite farm between woodland and a lake, at the end of the road. It is the truest setting in the department for a countryside wedding. Granite has a technical advantage few people suspect: unlike the pale stone of châteaux, it absorbs light rather than throwing it back, and faces stay readable in full afternoon sun.

Well-regarded venues I have not filmed yet

These estates come up often among wedding suppliers, and the feedback about them is consistently positive. I have not worked there yet: I have documented what they publish and what a videographer takes from reading it, without pretending to know them from the inside.

Château de FontenailleSaint-Pierre-des-Landes

32 hectares, a 450 m² marquee hall seating 400, a chapel in the park and 84 beds, ten minutes from Fougères.

Pavillon de l'ÉvidenceVaiges

A 600 m² orangery of glass and steel under nine metres of height, adaptable from 50 to 600 people, 20 minutes from Laval.

Other venues in the department

These estates are among the better-known reception venues in the area. I have not filmed there yet: I list them to help your search, without being able to describe them from the inside. Please check capacities and availability directly with them.

  • Château de Craon - Craon
  • Château de Marigny - between Laval and Mayenne

This list is not exhaustive. If you have found a venue that is missing, tell me about it: I add to this page as I film there.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Studio SB is based in Mayenne and works regularly in Mayenne: Laval, Mayenne, Château-Gontier, Ernée, Évron, Craon and the surrounding bocage. Wedding film packages start from €1,400, drone included when the venue and the weather allow.

Capacity and budget are listed everywhere else. Three other criteria decide the film: the rental window, which sets the day's rhythm; beds on site, which keep guests to the end of the evening; and the distance to the nearest road, which decides how clean the sound is.

Yes, far more than people expect. Mayenne granite returns a softer light than pale stone, meadows and rivers open up depth in the frame, and an estate away from any road lets voices be recorded without a hum underneath. Hence these venue-by-venue notes.
