Ille-et-Vilaine is the Breton department closest to home: Fougères is half an hour away, Vitré too. I film there regularly, between the forests of Brocéliande and the village churches. Here is what I know of it first hand.

Four hundred hectares in the heart of Brocéliande forest, three halls seating 250 in total and 152 beds. The forest is a magnificent setting and a technical trap: light arrives in patches, a face moves from full sun to shade in three steps. In exchange it offers natural depth no manicured park can give.

+Yes, and it shows on screen. Breton granite absorbs light rather than bouncing it, the large woodlands give substance to backgrounds, and how isolated an estate is governs how clean the sound will be. That is what I set out for each venue.
