Louise & Axel's wedding film in Normandy
On 15 August 2025, Louise and Axel were married in Normandy. A summer wedding, far from Mayenne, and one of those days that remind me why I do not limit my work to one department.
Travelling to film a wedding
Studio SB is based in Mayenne, but a good share of the weddings I film happen elsewhere: Brittany, Normandy, the Loiret, the Pays de la Loire. Travel is never an obstacle, it is simply planned into the quote, with scouting the day before on distant weddings.
Arriving the night before is not a luxury. It is what lets me see the light at the exact hour of the ceremony, identify the angles and constraints of the venue, and start the day knowing where to stand rather than improvising.
15 August: summer light to handle
A mid-August wedding offers long days, but also the harshest sun of the year in the middle of the afternoon. Filming a couple's session at three o'clock in August means accepting hard shadows and difficult contrast. It is better moved to the end of the day, when the light turns raking and warm, keeping the afternoon for the moments that cannot be moved.
That is the kind of trade-off agreed with the couple in advance, and it never shows in a successful film.
