Solène & Julien's countryside wedding at the Ferme de Maupoirier
On 24 May 2025, Solène and Julien were married at Belgeard town hall, then moved to the Ferme de Maupoirier, in Jublains. Two Mayenne communes about fifteen minutes apart, and a countryside wedding from beginning to end.
From Belgeard town hall to Jublains
A civil ceremony in a small commune is filmed differently from a large one. A village town hall's wedding room is cramped, often lit by fluorescent tubes, and there is no space to move around: you choose a position and you stay there. Everything then rests on sound and on faces, not on camera movement.
It is also a short, dense moment where emotion arrives without warning. There is no second take for an exchange of vows, which means being in place before it starts, never during.
What a countryside wedding changes
At Maupoirier almost everything happens outdoors: granite buildings, woodland, a lake, and the silence of the Mayenne bocage. A countryside wedding asks you to follow rather than compose. The light changes constantly, the setting is alive, the wind is part of the sound. That is precisely what gives these films their natural quality, provided you do not try to control everything.
Granite is an unexpected ally. Unlike the pale stone of châteaux, which throws the sun back and creates violent contrasts with the interior, it absorbs light: faces stay readable without an overexposed wall crushing them.
